Huawei Ascend Y200 now available at Safaricom shops

Barely 5 months after launching the Huawei Y100, Safaricom is now sellling the new Huawei Y200 U8655. The Y200 can be considered a bigger version of the Y100.

The Huawei Y200 which will be retailing at around 12,000 Kshs is similar to the Y100 in various specs including:

  • Android OS v2.3 Gingerbread
  • A 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A Snapdragon CPU
  • 3.2 MP camera (with video record/replay)
  • 3G data speeds, with 7.2 Mbps
  • Wi-fi enabled + hotspot
  • 512MB ROM internal storage, with 256MB RAM
  • Micro USB, 3.5mm earphone jack
  • 1250mAh battery

The major improvement on the Y200 will be the display size and type. The Y200 comes boasting of an IPS LCD display which gives it wider viewing angles while at the same time helping it lower power consumption. This should assist improve the overall battery performance on the Y200.

Just a few weeks after the successful “Jisort Na Smartphone” campaign came to an end, Safaricom has now launched a revamped campaign dubbed “Jisort Na Smartphone Reloaded”.

Samsung Galaxy Ace makes it to the existing line up with this new campaign.

Customers can now purchase selected smartphones for as low as 4,999/- Kshs plus 2,000 Bonga points.

You can also get the Ideos Y100 or the Alcatel OT 918 for just 4,999/- Kshs + 5000 Bonga points. Alternatively one can get the Samsung Galaxy Pocket or the LG E400 for only Kshs 4,999/- plus 5,000 Bonga points.

The introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Ace into the offer will enable you acquire the device for just 9,999/- Kshs + 5000 Bonga points.

During the campaign, each of the devices will come bundled with free 200 MBs of data plus 500 bob airtime. The campaign targets mainly the youth and young professionals and aims to drive data revenues for the Telco.

With this new offer Safaricom gives you another chance to get yourself a sleek smartphone without a dent to your pocket!
